Most of us were taught the wrong thing when it comes to resilience.

We were taught that resilience means pushing through. Holding it together. Not letting things get to us. Keeping our head down and carrying on, even when something inside us is fraying. If we were people of faith, we often baptized that idea with language about endurance, sacrifice, or “offering it up.”

And if we are honest, that model has left a lot of good people depleted.

If resilience feels like gritting your teeth and surviving one more week, one more headline, one more argument, something is off. That kind of toughness might keep you moving, but it rarely keeps you whole.

This distinction matters… and it is where today’s reflection begins.

This paid series is our way of thanking those who take shared ownership of this ministry. Free reflections will always remain.
